About Us

The Ugly Duckling Charity is a Christian organisation on a mission to help everyone find life in all its fullness.

Through a range of inspiring resources, we equip people of all ages to have meaningful conversations about the big and not so big questions of life. Our resources help people explore ideas that encourage them to live well and discover meaning, purpose and hope.

A core focus of our work is equipping churches for Early Mission — by this we mean helping churches reach out, build authentic relationships and engage meaningfully with their communities. Our resources are designed to spark curiosity, encourage exploration and create opportunities for conversation with those who might not typically engage with the church or the Christian faith, while also helping deepen relationships with those who do.

Our work, however, extends well beyond churches, and you don't have to hold a Christian belief to use or benefit from our resources. Rather than trying to persuade people, our resources create welcoming spaces where people can explore questions of wellbeing, purpose and daily life openly and honestly. Thoughtfully designed to be versatile, relevant and easy to use, they are suitable for a wide variety of settings, including homes, schools, universities, workplaces, community groups, pubs, cafés, care homes and church-based programmes.

Our Table Talk resources create safe spaces for open, respectful conversations on a wide range of topics that matter to people's lives.

Our courses, books, films and articles explore happiness and wellbeing, drawing on insights from Positive Psychology alongside the richness of Christian spirituality to offer an engaging and thoughtful approach to living life well.

We create our resources around the belief that every person is made up of body, mind and soul, yet the spiritual aspect of who we are is often misunderstood or neglected in our conversations and decision-making. In an increasingly secular and polarised world, people are not always afforded the opportunity to reflect on spirituality and the deeper aspects of life, including faith. We also know that the values and virtues found within the Christian faith — such as thankfulness, kindness and forgiveness — can have a profound and positive impact on individuals, relationships and the society we all share.

Each year, thousands of people engage with our resources. At the heart of our work is a desire to create welcoming spaces where people can have meaningful conversations, explore life's deeper questions and discover new perspectives on wellbeing, purpose, hope, life and faith.

Whether you are looking to enrich your own life, start conversations with those around you, or equip your church or community to help others to do the same, we invite you to discover our resources and see how we can help you, and those around you, — find life in all its fullness.

The lost art of conversation.

Everything we do at UDC revolves around a central idea: spiritual conversations change lives.
