Launching our new initiative

1 Million Conversations

The Vision

We want to spark one million honest, hopeful, life-giving conversations across the UK. In homes, cafés, churches, universities, festivals, workplaces, and community spaces.

Loneliness and poor mental health are rising. Society often feels divided. Many of life’s biggest questions go unspoken, yet people everywhere are searching for hope, peace, and meaning. At the same time, many want to make a positive difference in their communities to listen better, connect more deeply, and share what gives them strength and purpose in life.

What if one simple conversation could change everything?

What if we could create spaces where people feel safe to talk about life, purpose, and belief?

What if honest, hope-filled conversations could ease loneliness, build understanding, and spark transformation?

From those ‘what ifs’, 1 Million Conversations was born — a movement to help people everywhere rediscover the power of conversation.

A simple question, a listening ear or an honest discussion can become the beginning of a relationship, a moment of encouragement, the discovery of hope, or an opportunity to explore life's deeper questions. Not every conversation results in faith, but every conversation has the potential to move someone one step further on their journey to discovering life in all its fullness.

Our Progress

We calculate the progress of this initiative based on 4 key factors:

  1. The number of our resources that we sell or giveaway.

  2. Engagement with our Daily Question webpage

  3. Partnerships with other organisations

  4. Feedback from users.

The Tool

At the heart of this movement are two simple conversation tools: Table Talk Coasters and our Daily Question page.

Our Table Talk Coasters transform an everyday object into a catalyst for meaningful conversation. Each coaster features thought-provoking questions about life, wellbeing, hope and faith, together with a QR code linking to our Daily Question page, where you'll also find our Going Deeper resources.

The Daily Question page offers a fresh conversation starter every day, making it easy to keep conversations going with or with or without the coasters. Whether you're meeting with friends, leading a small group, running a café, serving in a chaplaincy, or simply looking for an interesting question to share on social media, it provides a simple way to encourage deeper conversations every day.

You don't need a coaster to take part—simply bookmark the Daily Question page and make it part of your daily routine.

The Goal

Our aim is to distribute 300,000 Table Talk Coasters by the end of 2029, paving the way to one million conversations by 2030.

Coasters are available to buy, while some will be freely given to schools, universities, chaplaincies, and community initiatives. Organisations can also co-brand their own coasters — as the United Reformed Church has done with an order of 100,000 to help launch the project.

Coming this Autumn is our Free Coaster offer for churches, charities, and community groups serving in areas of social deprivation. We will also be providing some free coasters to educational settings too. Details of how to get hold of these will appear here.

Can you help us to give away Free Coasters to churches, schools, chaplaincies, and communities in need.

Together, we can spark 1 Million Conversations

With thanks to our project partner

The coaster and webpage were developed in partnership with the United Reformed Church (URC) as part of our '1 Million Conversations' project. With their support (and an order of 100,000 coasters) they’re helping us spark life-changing conversations in communities across the country.
